Save the date for the Judy’s Mission Annual Luncheon to be held Thursday, May 2, 11:30 at River Oaks Country Club. Chairing the event are Eleanor and Dan Gilbane and Isabel and Danny David. The couples are passionate about raising funds to fight ovarian cancer because both families lost mothers to the disease. Dr. Anil Sood, Professor and Vice Chair for Translational Research in the Departments of Gynecologic Oncology and Cancer Biology at MD Anderson, will serve as Honorary Chair. KHOU 11 Anchor, Rekha Muddaraj will serve as emcee. Rabbi Pamela B. Silk of Congregation Emanu El will perform the invocation.
The event will feature contemporary American fiction author and Houston native, Katherine Center, as our keynote speaker. Katherine is the author of six novels, including the instant USA Today and New York Times bestseller How to Walk Away, Happiness for Beginners and The Lost Husband (currently being adapted into a movie) filmed on location in Austin and Round Top in late 2018 with an expected release in 2019. Katherine is especially gifted at “laughter through tears.” Her novels often begin with catastrophe and then draw even the most unsuspecting reader into page-turning humor and romance as they learn how the female heroine finds her strength and recovers.
